Smith to Head CNA Specialty

Kevin Smith, former Chubb Ltd. executive, was named President and Chief Executive Officer of CNA Specialty on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. CNA Specialty is a subsidiary of CNA and deals in specialized P&C insurance services.

The position was previously held by Mark Herman, who recently announced his resignation. Smith’s appointment will take effect May 22, 2017.

Smith’s experience in the insurance industry dates back to 1990 when he began his career as a Financial Institutions Underwriter in San Francisco, California. Most recently, he held the position of Executive Vice President and North American Field Strategic Development Officer for Chubb.

“Kevin is widely known in the industry as a strategic leader with the capabilities to develop and execute profitable growth imperatives across a broad spectrum of P&C products and services,” said Dino E. Robusto, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CNA, in a statement. “[Smith] is highly regarded by agents, brokers and colleagues for his industry expertise, as well as his collaborative, forward-thinking approach to the business.”
